The Trip

After lots (and lots!) of research we settled on an American Airlines OneWorld Global Explorer ticket that allows 16 stops in 4 continents with up to 34,000 miles of flying. This ticket reduces some flexibility in total miles flown, but adds code shares to make the very difficult to schedule New Zealand-Tahiti-Easter Island-Chile trip possible (why fly from NZ to Chile when you can break up the trip and see these amazing places!?)

To hit everything we want to see, we supplemented this ticket with additional flights inside Australia, New Zealand, and Tahiti. Other than these extra flights, all other air travel is included in one fixed-price ticket! Now you want to buy one of these, right? 🙂
